Apple Valley

Apple Valley, Utah is a small community located between Hurricane and Colorado City-Hildale.  The area has a number of good Native American Rock Art sites, with the Little Creek Recreation Area being the dominant one.  Some of the recreation activities are accelerating the natural deterioration of the site.

Other sites are wide spread and contain some very interesting Rock Art.  This area deserves a lot more exploration and location of the Rock Art prior to its deterioration.

There is rumored to be a painted "Fire Breathing Dragon" on the backside of Gooseberry Mesa.  Now remember that Rock Art interpretation means that a Fire Breathing Dragon might be something entirely different to another viewer.  But this is a good exploration target and I would like to find the Rock Art (and give it my own name) someday.

South of Apple Valley, Utah, a painted or Pictograph Cave is hidden from view.

Within about a half mile of the cave, there are four petroglyph rocks spread out.  The four have different symbols and each of the four rocks only has a single symbol.  With more exploration, we will probably find more petroglyph rocks, but at the present we doubt that we will find another Pictograph Cave nearby.
